Musical Instrument Digital Interface or MIDI is an important term in the process of music production and everyone from an amateuer artist to a seasoned music producer converts their musical notes into digital signals using this technique. These audio signals which are very small in size unlike MP3s and WAVs are saved in a file and explain what notes are played, when they're played, and how long or loud each note should be, once the file is attached to a playback device or loaded into a particular software program that knows how to interpret the data. MIDI files can be opened with Windows Media Player, VLC, WildMidi, TiMidity++, NoteWorthy Composer, Apple's Logic Pro and other popular media players. MIDIfiles are 'load & play' on Casio, Roland, Korg, Yamaha, and M-Live MIDI devices, as well as software like Garageband, Logic, Pro Tools, WinLlive Pro Synth, Cubase and Cakewalk.
